SES launches high-speed Internet service in five African nations

SES S.A., a global satellite owner and operator based in Betzdorf, Luxembourg, recently unveiled SES Broadband, a high-speed Internet service in five African nations, including Ghana and Nigeria.

“The socio-economic impact of broadband access in empowering people has been proven and is growing," Krasimira Bozhinkova, SES' vice president for data portfolio management, said. "Our new platforms simplify the process of getting connected without limiting the experience. High-speed broadband is attainable over our platforms, and customers can be ensured of a high quality of service, an enhanced application experience and the responsiveness that is expected."

SES has made Internet speeds of up to 1 gigabits per second available to customers in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Ethiopia and Kenya. These services will be accessible to about 99.5 percent of the new service areas.

Bozhinkova said SES will continue to develop its offerings, making new technologies and platforms available to African nations.
