In an effort to enhance the relationship between African nations and China, African Union Chairwoman Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed issues in a side meeting recently during the second Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in Pretoria, South Africa.
Zuma said she was impressed with the way the Chinese government was addressing and reducing poverty levels. Zuma asked for advice on how to do the same in Africa as the continent's nations focused on meeting the goals set in Africa's Agenda 2063.
The summit examined issues ranging from poverty and disease pandemics to climate change, peace and security. Jinping expressed his gratitude for Zuma's efforts in fostering goodwill between African nations and China, saying China is enthusiastic about joint projects in the works.
