For its commitment to serving the needs of younger customers, Samsung Nigeria was honored at the recent Nigeria Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards 2015 as Best Company in Youth-Focused CSR.
The awards aim to promote business growth and sustainability throughout Nigeria, with a focus on customer-service programs.
“We are humbled by this recognition, but by the same token, understand that the task ahead is even bigger," Samsung Electronics West Africa Managing Director Brovo Kim said. "This accolade represents a vote of confidence in our efforts to positively impact the lives of people, particularly the youth.
"We need to rise to the challenge and provide apt and innovative partnerships that will set Nigeria on the path to attaining the sustainable development goals,” Kim said.
Samsung Nigeria's youth-related programs include the Samsung Engineering Academy, which has trained 118 youths, and Digital Village at Cross Rivers State, which includes the Solar Powered Internet School.
Along with the company award, Samsung Nigeria's corporate citizenship manager, Abosede Modupe Alimi, was named one of the top three CSR practitioners in the country.
"Our goal has always been to address the felt-needs of the communities we operate in, and this recognition will go a long way in inspiring the team to do more in ensuring that we change the course of Nigeria through sustainable corporate citizenship programs,” Alimi said.
The winners were selected by a jury of experts from around the world.
