The 16th United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) General Conference will take place Nov. 30 to Dec. 4 at the Vienna International Centre in Austria.
The main topic for the conference will be sustainable industrialization and its role in the new United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Attendees will include Austrian President Heinz Fischer and government officials from all UNIDO members states. The keynote speaker will be economics Nobel Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz. Li Yong, UNIDO director general, will lead a news conference on the first day of the event.
From Nov. 30 to Dec. 1, the fourth session of the UNIDO Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development Forum will occur, where partnerships to enhance infrastructure development and investment innovation will be discussed.
Dec. 2 will see the launch of UNIDO's flagship publication, the 2016 Industrial Development Report, and on Dec. 3, a session entitled “Sustainable Industrialization for Climate Action” will analyze the role of UNIDO in setting in motion climate change.
