The Peace and Security Council of the African Union convened its 549th meeting on Oct. 9.
At the meeting, the organization reviewed information from its recent Retreat on Enhancement of Cooperation, during which its members worked alongside representatives of the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and the Regional Mechanisms for Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution (RMs).
The council also spoke about previous retreats that took place in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Nov. 15 to Nov. 16, 2012; in Djibouti; in Maseru, Lesotho, from Feb. 9 to Feb. 10, 2013; and in Swakopmund, Namibia, from May 21 to May 23, 2015.
During all these gatherings, the council discussed its methods of operation as well as ways to put into action its missions and processes for interaction with other civil society organizations.
The Peace and Security Council of the African Union is dedicated to the promotion of peace, security and stability across the African continent.
