Africa Finance Corp. (AFC) has made three key appoints with
Dr. Adesegun Akin-Olugbade, Oliver Tunde Andrews and Sanjeev Gupta in order to transform its organizational structure.
A Harvard Law School alumnus, Akin-Olgubade has spent more than 30 years in the financial and legal sectors. While Dr. Akin-Olugbade previously served as executive director of Corporate Services, he now has been named executive director and Chief Operating Officer of AFC.
While serving previously as a CEO for Africa Infrastructure, Andrews is now AFC's executive director and chief investment officer. Andrews is an engineer and economist who has spent his career in infrastructural development.
Gupta was appointed executive director of financial services. In this capacity, he will oversee the company's treasury, financial advisory and the newly created Financial Institutions Division.
Gupta's resume includes stints as managing partner in charge of emerging markets Ernst Young Transaction Advisory Services and founder and managing partner of emerging opportunity consulting and CEO at Sanlam Investment Management.
Speaking on AFC's changes, CEO Andrew Alli says it was time for a change at the organization.
"AFC was formed to provide financing solutions to infrastructure projects in Africa," said Alli. “So far we have made considerable progress over the last eight years of operations. Nonetheless, we are at a point where we need to reinvent ourselves and sustain the momentum."
Alli also spoke directly to Sanjeev's appointment and its expected impact on the organization.
"We believe that the new organization structure will put the AFC on the right path. The inclusion of Sanjeev as a member of AFC’s executive management team is an excellent addition that, with his experience and the complementary skill set that he possesses, will further enhance the Corporation’s ability to deliver on its mandate."
