Togo and United States have announced the establishment of a bilateral Open Sky agreement between the two countries.
The document, signed by U.S. Ambassador Robert Whitehead and Togolese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Robert Dussey, assures that airlines from both countries can fly to any point of U.S. or Togo territory.
“This historic
agreement represents an important step forward in the United States’
government’s goal to improve the investment climate and support economic
development in Togo", highlighted Whitehead. "It will provide for more
open air routes, liberal charter rules, and expanded rights vis-à-vis
air cargo between our two countries."
The agreement, meant to reinforce U.S. efforts to support the development in the region, has been in the works since 2012 and is the first of its kind to established between the two countries.
