DHL Express was recently certified as Top Employer in 12 African markets for the second time at the
Top Employer 2016 ceremony held in Johannesburg.
The Top Employer event aims to recognize companies that are investing in good working conditions, improving working practices and developing their employees' talent.
DHL Express received the Top Employers distinction for its offices in Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda.
The certification is a result of initiatives adopted by the company to motivate its staff, including the Certified International Specialist (CIS) cultural program that focuses on speed, a can-do attitude, precision and passion. "Everyone from the Global CEO or our couriers have gone through this training program, which reinforces our core competencies," Managing Director of DHL Express Sub-Saharan Africa Hennie Heymans said.
DHL's managers also participate in the Certified International Manager (CIM) program that focuses on aligning their intellectual abilities with proper leadership and social skills to lead their teams.
“This focuses primarily on ensuring that our leaders have the correct balance between IQ and EQ, and have the right leadership and social skills to lead tomorrow’s workforce,” Heymans said.
