With members negotiating and agreeing unanimously to accept the nation into the organization, Liberia last week became the eighth least-developed country to become a member of the World Trade Organization.
The terms of Liberia’s pending membership will come before the 10th Ministerial Conference in Nairobi, Kenya Dec. 15-18.
The World Trade Organization is an intergovernmental organization that regulates international trade, providing a framework for negotiating trade agreements and dispute resolutions.
It replaced the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) in 1995.
