The 12th Meeting of the National Focal Institutions (NFIs) of the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) convened on November 25, 2024, in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. This gathering served as a precursor to the 9th edition of the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF), scheduled for November 28-29, 2024. The event was also accompanied by pre-events focusing on clean cooking transitions and sustainable off-grid solutions for health centers.

Organized with support from GiZ/ProMERC, the meeting reviewed achievements from 2024 and laid out plans for 2025. Discussions covered various topics including a regional report on renewable energy progress, development of an energy efficiency report for West Africa, and updates on the renovation of ECOWREX.

Other agenda items included presenting accomplishments and future plans related to the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Certification System and discussing the state of implementation regarding National Sustainable Energy Certification Committees. There were also exchanges concerning the launch of an Energy Efficiency Skills Certification Program in collaboration with AfDB/ASAP.

A key focus was on monitoring and evaluating National Sustainable Energy Action Plans supported by ECREEE. These discussions aimed at ensuring these plans are translated into structured programs and infrastructure across member states.
