President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has suspended Stephen H. J. Zargo, the Commissioner-General of the Liberia Immigration Services (LIS), for administrative reasons. The suspension is effective immediately and will last for three months without pay.

During this period, Zargo is required to hand over all official materials, assets, and office accessories to Mr. Elijah F. Rufus, the LIS Deputy Commissioner-General for Administration. Rufus will take on the responsibilities of the institution during Zargo's absence.

"This suspension reflects President Boakai’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability among public servants," stated a release from the Executive Mansion in Monrovia.

The President emphasized his dedication to strengthening the rule of law and reinforcing integrity within all public offices. "This action serves as a reminder to all officials of government regarding their duty to serve with honor and diligence," he added.
