The Kédougou region in Senegal has advanced its efforts to enhance agricultural productivity through the commissioning of ten solar pumping systems. This initiative, executed by the NGO SEM Fund with support from ECREEE, is part of the ECOWAS Special Intervention Fund (ESIF). It aims to improve farmers' livelihoods in several communities, including Bandafassi, Damboucoye, and Ibel.

These solar installations are designed to enable more efficient and sustainable irrigation practices, thereby boosting resilience against climate change. The project aligns with Sustainable Development Goals by promoting clean energy access and supporting rural communities.

Inauguration ceremonies took place on October 1 and 2, 2024, in Damboucoye and Bembou. Attendees included representatives from the Senegalese Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, ASER represented by Energie Rurale Africaine (ERA), ECREEE, SEM Fund Senegal, and local community members.

Mr. El Hadji NDIAYE from the Ministry of Energy's Renewable Energy Development department and Mr. Mawufemo MODJINOU from CEREEC were present at the events.

Throughout this year, ECREEE has launched various clean energy projects across West Africa, including mini-grids and solar home systems in countries like Nigeria and Ghana.
