Liberian president concludes successful visit to South Korea

The Republic of Liberia, Seoul, Korea - His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has returned to Liberia following a successful weeklong visit to Seoul, South Korea. President Boakai was invited by Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol to attend the inaugural Korea-Africa Summit held from June 4-5, 2024.

The summit gathered African Heads of State, high-level business leaders, and members of the Korean government. Upon his arrival in Korea after more than thirty hours of travel, President Boakai participated in a business summit focused on Liberia and attended a reception hosted by President Yeol. He addressed the plenary session of the Korea-Africa Summit and held bilateral meetings with various counterparts and business leaders.

President Boakai also took part in a business and investment forum with Korean investors where he delivered an address on food and mineral security. On June 6, he engaged with the Liberian community in Korea, reassuring them of his commitment to rebuilding their homeland.

The visit concluded with another business forum that resulted in several Memoranda of Understanding centered on agriculture, infrastructure, energy, water, and other sectors.

President Boakai expressed gratitude to President Yeol, members of the Korean government, and the business community for their support during his visit. He anticipates continued engagement and follow-ups.

President Boakai and his delegation are scheduled to return to Liberia today, June 8, 2024.
