USAID recently indicated how it will use the $22.7 billion allocated to the organization.
President Barack Obama's Fiscal Year 2017 Budget gives $11 billion to USAID-managed accounts that addresses transition initiatives, international disaster assistance and crises funds; $1.7 billion to ensure the progress of current operations; $195.5 million for the global development lab, policy planning and learning bureau; and $275 million toward a vaccine alliance.
There has also been a $200 million increase to cover the Ebola recovery, additional resources and food security.
USAID plans to use $2.9 billion for its health program to reduce the threat of diseases, such as AIDS, and $694.4 million will be used for government stability overseas.
The organization has invested $352.2 million through the Global Climate-Change Initiative and $3.3 billion will go toward humanitarian efforts, combating disease and improving emergency care.
