In recognition of International Women's Day, the African Institute for Mathematical Science (AIMS) and the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) announced a partnership Tuesday to increase education of girls throughout Africa with STEM programs.
STEM is otherwise known as Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
"Gender equality and inclusion is of vital importance to our work at AIMS, where 30 percent of all of our graduates are women," Thierry Zomahoun, AIMS CEO, said .
Zomahoun believes that the education of women can make a great difference in their lives as well as in their respective countries.
The partnership which was announced was accompanied by a Memorandum of Understanding that will provide the guidelines for the partnership between the two organizations.
"We are especially excited to work with AIMS to increase exposure to role models and mentors for the girls we work with in the communities and to show them that they, too, could be Africa’s Next Einstein," FAWE Director Hendrina Doroba said.
