USAID's Trade Hub bolsters private sector resilience in Cabo Verde

The USAID-funded West Africa Trade & Investment Hub (Trade Hub) has significantly impacted Cabo Verde's economy through its co-investment partnerships. The Trade Hub, which provided $2.4 million in co-investment grants from USAID/Sahel and USAID/West Africa, supported five companies across various sectors including pharmaceuticals (Inpharma), agriculture (Agrosoluções), fish processing (Fresk, SUCLA), and financial services (Injaro Investments). This follows the approval from the South Africa Reserve Bank (SARB) for Nigerian Breweries Plc to acquire shares of Distell International Limited, now known as Heineken Beverages Holdings Limited, in Distell Nigeria, along with the import business of Distell International Limited in Nigeria. ECOWAS inaugurates off-grid solar installation at Bayero University

A solar photovoltaic installation was officially inaugurated on May 31, 2024, at the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at Bayero University in Kano, Nigeria. The installation, with a capacity of 79kwp of solar PV, 58kw of inverter, and 60KWH of battery storage, was funded by the ECOWAS Commission through the ECOWAS Special Intervention Fund (ESIF).
