President Boakai Suspends The Board of Commissioners of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA)
The President of the Republic, H. E Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has taken decisive action by suspending the Chairperson and Commissioners of the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) amidst allegations of financial misconduct and other malpractices.
In a statement released from the Executive Mansion in Monrovia, President Boakai suspended Madam Edwina C. Zackpah, Mr. Israel Akinsanya, Mr. Zotawon D. Titus, Mr. James Gbarwea, and Mr. Osborne K. Diggs pending a comprehensive audit of the LTA by the General Auditing Commission (GAC). The President called for the officials to fully cooperate with the investigation.
"The President has expressed confidence that the investigation will uncover any financial impropriety and lead to corrective measures to prevent such incidents in the future," a spokesperson for the President stated.
The Liberia Telecommunications Authority plays a crucial role in regulating the telecommunications sector in Liberia, and the President emphasized the importance of upholding integrity and accountability within the institution.
