The African Development Bank has announced the renewal of its Bank-Civil Society Committee for the 2024-2026 term. The committee, described as a diverse and carefully selected group, is set to play a crucial role in ensuring that civil society contributes effectively to inclusive growth and the transformation of the continent.
Zeneb TOURE, Manager of Civil Society and Community Engagement at the African Development Bank, emphasized the committee's role, stating, "The committee will continue to serve as an advisory body to the Bank and will ensure that the implementation of the civil society engagement program is respected."
The committee aims to foster collaboration between the Bank and civil society organizations across Africa, promoting inclusive and sustainable development that benefits all. Toure expressed confidence in the committee's ability to represent diverse constituencies and mobilize civil society across regions and thematic areas.
The Bank-CSO Committee is gearing up to focus on key areas of collaboration, including mobilizing CSOs for Bank initiatives, enhancing participation in policy discussions, and facilitating knowledge-sharing on civil society engagement to engage citizens and communities effectively.
Composed of nine civil society representatives, the renewed committee is set to build on the achievements of its predecessor from 2020-2023. The committee's work will play a vital role in advancing the Bank's Ten-Year Strategy and promoting inclusive growth across the continent.
