West African Resources provides update on Burkina Faso gold mining

Gold exploration company West African Resources Limited recently released the results of reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its M3 prospect in Burkina Faso.

“Drill hole TAC 1204 returned a solid result of 19m at 1.75g/t Au from 9m at the northern end of the M3 eastern mineralized zone," West African Resources Limited Managing Director Richard Hyde said. “Gold mineralization at M3 eastern zone can be traced over 300m, is open along strike and located less than 2km from the proposed heap leach starter pit at M5. Follow-up shallow RC drilling is in progress at M3 and M1 prospects."

While previous drilling has extended shallow oxide gold mineralization at the M3 eastern zone, follow-up drilling has confirmed the continuity of gold mineralization in the area. Oxide mineralization from M1 and M3 are expected to continue to show similar metallurgical characteristics to those oxides at M5.

Burkina Faso is the third-largest site for gold exploration and fourth-largest site for gold production in Africa. According to an updated pre-feasibility study completed by West African Resources Limited last year, the site has the potential to add ounces to the existing heap leach probable ore reserve of 440,000.
