A joint press conference of the United Nations Security Council took place Tuesday in Dakar for a resolution on women, peace and security.
Conference attendees included Mohamed Ibn Chambas, chief of the United Nations Office of West Africa; Diana Ofwona, UN WOMEN regional director for West Africa; and Aminata Dibba, director of the ECOWAS Center for Gender Development.
The resolution was focused on the role women can play in the prevention of conflicts as well as peacemaking or peace-building processes.
Also present at the conference were a number of West African women leaders, civil society organizations, educators and representatives from sub-regional organizations.
Chambas acted as chair for the conference.
