Nigerian Breweries Plc has formally announced the complete acquisition of Distell Wines and Spirits Nigeria Limited (DWSN). This development comes as Nigerian Breweries finalizes the purchase of the remaining 20% shares previously held by minority stakeholders Ekulo International Limited and Next International Nigeria Limited, each owning 10%. This acquisition is aimed at streamlining operations and accelerating decision-making processes as the company aims to diversify beyond the beer market.

The majority stake of 80% had already been acquired by Nigerian Breweries in June 2024. Now, with full ownership, the brewing giant intends to enhance production capacity for DWSN’s brands by relocating their operations from rented facilities to its own premises. "This move will equally allow DWSN to benefit from economies of scale available at NB’s premises as well as help to grow its share in the wines, spirits and RTD categories," Nigerian Breweries stated.

Locally produced brands under DWSN include Chamdor, 4th Street, Hunters Dry, and Savanna. In addition to these, Nigerian Breweries' portfolio of imported brands features Amarula Cream Liqueur, Drosty Hoff, Nederburg wines, and Bain’s whisky.

Nigerian Breweries, recognized as the pioneer and largest brewing company in Nigeria, continues its commitment to quality and consumer satisfaction by expanding its brand offerings in the sector.
