The Education, Skills and Employment Portfolio has announced the provision of non-compulsory nursery education for all children between the ages of three to four years on St. Helena. According to the Portfolio, "We will be in contact with parents/guardians of those children born on island and who are eligible to enter nursery education in the school year September 2024 – August 2025."

For parents whose children were not born on St. Helena, the Portfolio has requested that they provide specific information to facilitate nursery placement. "It would be appreciated if parents of children who were not born on St Helena could submit the following information in writing to the Assistant Director of Schools Kerry Lawrence," stated the Education, Skills and Employment Portfolio.

The details required for children not born on the island include the child’s full name and date of birth, the name and address of the parent or guardian, as well as a telephone number and email address if applicable. Once all necessary information is received, parents will be informed about their child’s nursery placement.

This initiative aims to ensure that children on St. Helena have access to early education opportunities. Parents and guardians are encouraged to follow the instructions provided by the Education, Skills and Employment Portfolio to secure a place for their children in the upcoming school year.
