The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) held its 2024 annual meeting of heads of national offices from October 8 to 11 in Lomé. The meeting focused on enhancing accountability, openness, and reporting processes using the Aid Management Platform (AMP).
A needs assessment was conducted in Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Togo, along with the ECOWAS Commission and agencies such as ECREE, ARAA, PPDU, ERERA, as well as the EU Delegation and GIZ in Abuja. The objectives included improving resource mobilization strategies per Articles 22 to 25 of the Operational Manual and implementing an independent audit process on community levy resources managed by national offices.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Afo Ousmane SALIFOU welcomed the initiative on behalf of HE Professor Robert DUSSEY. He stated that Togo is committed to working with regional partners for optimal deployment of AMP.
HE Mrs. Damtien L. Tchintchibidja's remarks were delivered by Hon. Ab-dou KOLLEY who thanked Togolese authorities for their support. She praised the Heads of National Offices for their dedication to building ECOWAS institutions.
Mr. Jérôme BOA expressed gratitude to BIDC and Togolese authorities for hosting the event. He highlighted that this meeting follows one held in Grand Bassam in August 2023 which helped implement recommendations for ECOWAS National Offices' functioning.
Mrs. Cristina Da Silva conveyed best wishes for productive discussions and outcomes at this annual meeting on behalf of Amb Olawale Emmanuel AWE.
