Energy ministers across Africa will gather to discuss investment opportunities for the continent's power sector at the 18th Annual Africa Energy Forum June 22-24 in London.
The event will feature numerous keynote addresses, seminars, plenary sessions, panel discussions and an exhibition of international solution providers. There will also be a competition for local entrepreneurs who will have the chance to win $7 million to develop proposed renewable energy projects.
Additionally, a concert will take place June 23 to emphasize the impact commercial trade has on providing access to energy to those individuals living in areas off the energy grid. The concert will include music from African musicians and U.K. bands.
Among the already more than 130 confirmed speakers for the 2016 Africa Energy Forum are Karén Breytenbach, head of IPP projects at the IPP Office of South Africa; Emeldah Chola, permanent secretary for the Ministry of Energy and Water Development of Zambia; Nick Hurd, the United Kingdom's parliamentary under secretary of state for International Development; John Abdulai Jinapor, Ghana's acting minister of power; Mamadou Frankaly Keita, minister of Energy and Water for Mali; and Spéro Mensah, mnister of Energy, Oil and Mining for Bénin.
