The United Kingdom's Minister for Africa James Duddridge visited Ghana and Ivory Coast last week to promote business collaborations between the U.K. and West Africa nations.
Duddridge met with Ghana President John Dramani Mahama, Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara, and business leaders from both countries to discuss points of potential collaboration.
In Ghana, Duddridge spoke about assisting the country with counter-terrorism efforts and presided over the official transfer of the U.K.-funded Dodowa Hospital. In Ivory Coast, he launched a multimedia campaign aimed at promoting opportunities within the county's export industry.
Duddridge also laid a wreath at the site of a terrorist attack in Grand Bassam where 19 people were killed.
"I look forward to working with Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire on a range of issues in the future, from increasing trade collaboration to addressing international security challenges," Duddridge said. "The U.K. and Ghana share prosperity objectives. Using U.K. expertise and development assistance, we want to drive Ghanaian growth and create opportunities for both Ghanaian and U.K. businesses."
Duddridge was joined on the trip by Trade Envoy for Ghana Adam Afriyie.
