Uber is now offering its services in Abuja, Nigeria, which is the 400th city that the company has a presence in, expanding the transportation options of the city.
The entrepreneurial nature of Abuja and its rapid growth are two reasons that Uber chose it. The general manager for Uber Lagos, Ebi Atawodi, recently spoke about the city and the company.
“Uber gives the people of Abuja an affordable, easy and flexible choice to move around the city safely and reliably,” Atawodi said.
Any individual with a smartphone is able to request Uber to help them go from point A to point B. Using the Uber app, individuals can request a driver and view their driver’s rating.
A price estimate is given before and after the ride, and both driver and passenger provide feedback, creating an accountability system and an added measure of safety. The company itself monitors the drivers through a GPS system, verifying that the driver is where he or she should be during the trip.
Atawodi believes that the progressiveness of Abuja necessitates safe transportation and stated that Uber was proud to be a part of that step.
