Ghana’s Svanikier Donates Package to Youth Choir

Thomas Svanikier, executive chairman of Ghana-based Svani Group, recently donated GH¢ 50,000 to an endowment fund for the Winneba Youth Choir (WYC) in Accra, Ghana. The money will serve as a seed fund for WYC, which is the leading youth choir in Ghana.

As a package donation, Svanikier also contributed a sedan automobile to the choir master to help make the management of the choir easier. Last year Svanikier donated a 35-seat bus to the choir to help transport its members, many of whom come from low-income families.

Svanikier announced his donation at the Winneba Youth Choir’s “Peace on Earth” concert, an annual end-of-year celebration in Accra. According to the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Svanikier, together with his wife, Johanna, who is Ghana’s Ambassador to France and Portugal, addressing the concert, commended the management of the WYC for effectively helping to nurture the talents of the youth. Describing the choir as “ambassadors of joy,” he thanked God for using it to spread the gospel through music."

The concert included several high-profile individuals, including Matilda Amissah-Arthur, wife of the Vice-President former Chief of Staff; John Henry Martey-Newman; and former Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Professor Mike Oquaye.
