In its role as Germany's development bank, Kfw and the African Development Bank (AfDB) unveiled a program Oct. 22 to advance agriculture throughout Africa at the Feeding Africa Conference in Dakar.
AfDB promotes sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction in Africa, while KfW's focus is on the design and scalability of accessible financial service solutions and infrastructure.
The program's initial goals include bringing agricultural finance solutions to scale across Africa; locating new sources of agriculture capital; pursuing new financing solutions for the rural, youth and women populations; and sharing knowledge to create thought leadership about financial inclusion and economic development.
“We at the African Development Bank have a clear vision and an ambitious agenda for agricultural transformation across Africa,” Akinwumi Adesina, president of the AfDB, said.
And Thomas Duve, director at KfW, agreed.
“We are impressed by President Adesina’s leadership and vision, and are proud to be part in pursuing the bold aims of the agricultural transformation agenda," he said.
