As a part of the British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT) Migrant Agreement Memorandum of Understanding, HM Customs and Immigration Services announced temporary scheduling adjustments. The adjustments are due to specialized training that will take place over the next six weeks. This period will have an impact on operation hours and service delivery.
For the week starting May 5, 2025, adjusted opening hours are as follows. On Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, services will be available from 11:00 to 15:00 for businesses and individuals dealing with items or shipments. On Wednesday and Friday, merchants can access services from 09:00 to 15:45, while immigration customers will be served from 10:00 to 15:00. Additionally, a daily staff lunch break will take place between 13:00 and 13:30.
During the training period, the reception desk will not be manned, email access for staff will be limited, and cashier services will experience slower processing times. These factors may result in delays in service delivery.
HM Customs and Immigration extended their gratitude to the public for their understanding and cooperation, stating that the training is crucial for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of services in accordance with the BIOT Migrant Agreement Memorandum. Weekly updates on opening hours will be issued regularly.
