Waste Management Services (WMS) has announced temporary disruptions in waste collection services due to mechanical issues affecting both Refuse Collection Vehicles (RCVs). The company is currently unable to provide a confirmed date for when the vehicles will return to service.
In an effort to minimize the impact on domestic waste collection, WMS will continue operations without mechanical assistance. This change necessitates a longer and more labor-intensive process for the refuse collecting team. To facilitate this adjustment, WMS is seeking public cooperation. Residents are asked to place domestic waste in litter bags before placing them into bins, which helps prevent loose items from being blown away and eases manual bin emptying. Additionally, residents should ensure their waste is placed out by 06:00 on designated collection days.
Despite these measures, some delays or disruptions may still occur due to the manual nature of current operations. However, recycling collections from communal hubs and commercial businesses will proceed as usual.
For further inquiries or concerns, individuals can contact Karl Martin, Environmental Officer – Risk Management, at telephone number 24724 or Shane Williams, WMS Supervisor, at mobile number 66380.
WMS expresses regret for any inconvenience caused and extends gratitude to the public for their understanding and cooperation during this period.
