Former Gambian Vice-President Sensitizes ECOWAS Observers on Togo Election Mission

The former Gambian Vice-President, Mrs Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang, recently conducted a briefing session for the forty observers of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Election Observation Mission in Togo. During the session, she emphasized the importance of professionalism and objectivity, stating, "We are here to monitor the election, not to give instructions or dictate things."

Mrs Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang also encouraged a peaceful conduct of the upcoming legislative and regional elections in Togo, highlighting their significance in contributing to the country's development and prosperity. She commended the significant representation of women among the ECOWAS observers and recognized the vital role of ECOWAS in promoting gender inclusion in leadership roles across West Africa.

The briefing session provided the ECOWAS Observers with insights into the mission's objectives, the socio-political and security landscape in Togo, as well as the electoral procedures and observation methodology. Observers were deployed across various regions in Togo to ensure comprehensive coverage during the elections.

Following the briefing, Mrs Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang met with the President of Togo's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Dago Yabre, to discuss voter civic education and the communication strategy for a successful election process.

The day concluded with Mrs Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang attending an information session on the preparations and conduct of the legislative and regional elections, demonstrating her dedication to ensuring a smooth and transparent electoral process in Togo.
