Ivory Coast President of the National Assembly Guillaume Soro met with Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Yu Zhengsheng Thursday in Abidjan.
Members of the Ivory Coast assembly held an official welcome ceremony for Yu, who visited on the heels of China's unveiling of a 10-point plan for China-Africa collaborations, which Ivory Coast officials expect to dovetail with the country's four-year development plan.
The leaders expressed their mutual appreciation for each others' countries, with Soro commending China's aggressive development agenda and Yu admiring Ivory Coast's economic standing.
The leaders described relations between the two countries as historically high, with China officially directing Chinese investors to become involved in agriculture, the processing industry, shipping and port construction. China will also begin promoting Ivory Coast as a tourist destination.
Each country will also work toward increasing people-to-people exchanges on the grounds of cultural, women's issues, youth issues, media and job training.
