Orange acquires Cellcom Liberia
Orange officials said Cellcom Liberia's national mobile license and its large market share position it for current and future success.
Liberia as a whole has approximately 66 percent mobile coverage, leaving ample room for growth in the mobile sector. Orange officials said they hope to exploit this opportunity as part of an ongoing international strategy of investing in emerging markets, particularly in Africa.
The transition will be marked by Orange taking charge of marketing, putting its resources behind developing Cellcom Liberia's brand and enhancing customer services. Cellcom Liberia staff and the company's founders will remain involved to support existing relationships between customers and the government.
