Jumia Nigeria, one of Africa's leading Internet shopping venues, is under new leadership.
Juliet Anammah has been named the new CEO of the e-commerce company , which is a division of Africa Internet Group (AIG). Anammah will assume duties from the company's former co-CEOs, Jeremy Doutte and Nicolas Martin, who will now head Jumia Global, which oversees the company's interests in the 11 African nations in which it operates.
Active in a number of civic organizations, Anammah is particularly interested in initiatives aimed at the advancement of women in the workplace.
“My objective is to relentlessly focus on building the Jumia brand, making it the one-stop shopping destination in Nigeria by offering convenience and the widest assortment of quality products at affordable prices," Anammah said. “We are building a platform for local and global brands to enter the market at the speed of light by going directly from the factory to the consumers. This is a game-changer for Nigeria and a major shift in the way companies look at their market-entry strategy.”
Before taking the position at Jumia, Anammah was a partner at Accenture and managing director of the firm’s consumer-goods division in Nigeria. Anammah has 24 years of experience in the marketing and commerce arena, six of them as a senior executive.
“Juliet brings strong leadership capacity and a consumer-driven mindset honed from her experience in consumer goods and services,” AIG co-CEO Jeremy Hodara said. "As Jumia moves into a new phase of growth, consolidating on the gains so far, while driving for more relevance to our customers, Juliet’s ability to focus sharply on the strategic levers of success is invaluable.”
