Group BMCE Bank of Africa recently announced the closing of the first round of competition for this year's African Entrepreneurship Award.
The bank received 3,900 business ideas from 8,800 applicants. The applications will be judged based on their ability to be successfully implemented across Africa.
Since beginning in late 2014, the grant program has provided African businesses with millions of dollars in capital. Last year, the competition selected 10 winners to split $1 million in funding businesses across the continent. Bank officials expect to award the same amount this year.
Businesses selected to continue to Round 2 will be announced May 31.
