ECOWAS bids farewell to Mr Ousseini Salifou, the First Executive Director of the Regional Agriculture and Food Agency (RAAF), as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement after a successful tenure. Mr Salifou's leadership and dedication have significantly contributed to the implementation of the ECOWAS Regional Agricultural Policy (ECOWAP).

Having led RAAF since July 2013, Mr Salifou was instrumental in the development and implementation of key agricultural initiatives within the region. His previous role as the ECOWAS Commissioner for Agriculture, Environment, and Water Resources further showcased his commitment to advancing agricultural development.

Under his guidance, RAAF emerged as a specialized agency based in Lomé, Togo, with a crucial mandate to oversee the technical implementation of regional agricultural programs and investment plans. Mr Salifou's vision was to position RAAF as a benchmark institution for agriculture and food across Africa, a goal he pursued diligently throughout his tenure.

Described as a unifier, a director of cohesion, and a leader, Mr Salifou prioritized the growth and development of his team above all else. His humility, fairness, and transparency in resource management, coupled with his genuine and respectful interactions with stakeholders, have been integral to the success of ECOWAP projects and programs under RAAF's coordination.

As ECOWAS bids farewell to Mr Ousseini Salifou, his legacy as a respected figure in agricultural development and a champion of unity and integrity within the sector will endure.
