Recent drilling at the M1 prospect in Burkina Faso has found high grade gold mineralization.
West African Resources Ltd. announced the results of reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its M1 prospect. The samples show the existence of a continuous shallow gold field in an area more than 218 yards long, more than the length of two football fields.
“Drill hole TAN16-RC99 has returned an excellent result of 16m at 5.3g/t Au from 48m at the northern end of the +1.5km M1 mineralized trend," Managing Director Richard Hyde said. "The result fits well with previous high-grade gold at M1 North with TAN15-DD28 which returned 14m at 4.4g/t Au from 36m in December, 2015. New gold mineralization at M1 North can be traced over 200m, is open along strike, at depth and located less than 2km from the proposed heap leach starter pit at M5. Follow-up shallow RC drilling is in progress at M3 and M1 prospects.”
The M1 prospect is part of the Tanlouka Gold Project in Burkina Faso, which is 100 percent owned by West African Resources Ltd. Tanlouka is located in a region of volcanic and sedimentary rock, west of the Tiébélé-Dori-Markoye Fault, a major fault line. The gold is associated with quartz veins and veinlets that run through the area, which will be mined using conventional open-pit mining methods.
