Wale Edun, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has praised Lotus Capital Limited for its role in advancing non-interest finance in the country. During a meeting held in Abuja with a delegation from Lotus Capital led by Managing Director Hajara Adeola, Edun highlighted the need for cooperation between public and private sectors to support sustainable capital for national development.

The discussions focused on strategies to expand Nigeria’s non-interest finance sector as a means to promote inclusive economic growth. Topics included the potential introduction of a Non-Interest Real Estate Investment Fund and regular sovereign sukuk issuance. These initiatives are aimed at attracting ethical investment into infrastructure projects, increasing market liquidity, and improving access to finance for communities that are often underserved.

Edun said, “Collaboration between the public and private sectors will be essential to mobilising sustainable, long-term capital for national development.”

The Ministry emphasized its commitment to seeking innovative financial solutions to foster economic growth. The meeting also reinforced the significance of partnerships between government and industry stakeholders in developing Nigeria’s non-interest finance sector.
