The Utilities Regulatory Authority (URA) has issued a report on the services provided by Connect St Helena for the year 2023/24. The report is available on the SHG website at https://www.sainthelena.gov.sh/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/URA-Report-23-24-FINAL-1.pdf.
The URA highlighted two main areas of concern:
1. A lack of a coordinated approach to the introduction of renewable energy.
2. An unacceptably high level of loss from the water network.
The URA also noted that a new tariff structure, effective from June 2025, will bring clarity for customers regarding tariffs. This transparency will help everyone understand how tariffs relate to costs and evaluate whether Connect St Helena is improving its business efficiency and where government subsidies are being allocated.
