The Health and Social Care Portfolio has released the schedule of fees for overseas visitors to St Helena, effective from May 28, 2025. This schedule applies to individuals entering on a Short Term Entry Permit (STEP) or holiday visa.
Entry requirements include possessing valid travel insurance, having insurance from a St Helena provider, or having sufficient funds to cover medical expenses. These fees affect those visiting for vacation, business purposes without residing beyond 183 days, or attending medical emergencies like passing vessel incidents.
Certain exemptions apply. Individuals directly employed by the Government of St Helena or holding a Long Term Entry Permit (LTEP) exceeding 183 days are exempt. Those born, registered, naturalized, or adopted in St Helena are also exempted. Additionally, dependents or partners of such individuals fall under this category and will be charged at resident rates.
In line with the UK reciprocal agreement dated May 11, 2023, British passport holders born in the UK are eligible for medical treatment at resident rates in St Helena. However, dentistry is excluded and elective overseas referrals require St Helenian status.
