St Helena Government (SHG), in partnership with Connect St Helena, has announced the release of tender documents for the construction and installation of two new wastewater treatment plants. The proposed sites are The Guns at Ladder Hill and The Sand Yard in Jamestown.

According to SHG, this initiative is a key part of efforts to upgrade the island’s wastewater infrastructure. The government stated that the new facilities will help improve environmental protection, enhance public health, and promote more sustainable management of wastewater on St Helena.

The project is included within the £30 million Economic Development Investment Programme (EDIP), which is funded by the UK Government. Through EDIP, SHG aims to deliver important infrastructure improvements designed to benefit residents and support long-term development on the island.

A drop-in session has been scheduled for Thursday, 11 December 2025, from 09:00 to 13:00 at The Canister. Members of the public are invited to attend to receive updates about the project, ask questions, and provide feedback directly to the Project Management team.
