Nominations are being sought for several awards recognizing outstanding service and achievement in St Helena and the United Kingdom. The call includes nominations for the 2026 UK State Birthday Honours, as well as local honours such as the Certificate and Badge of Honour, Act of Bravery Award, Badge of St Helena, and Freedom of the City of Jamestown.

The UK State Awards are granted based on merit for exceptional achievement or service that goes beyond what is normally expected. This may involve making a difference in the community, innovation, entrepreneurship, helping those less able to help themselves, or showing moral courage. Nominations should highlight voluntary services where possible and focus on recent contributions. Nominees must not be informed that they are being considered. Information about these honours can be found at www.gov.uk/honours.

The Certificate and Badge of Honour is presented by the St Helena Government to public servants who have demonstrated loyal and valuable service worthy of recognition. It may also be awarded to others whose conduct has provided significant benefit to the people of St Helena. Eligible nominees should have been born on St Helena or have resided there for at least ten years before receiving the award.

The Act of Bravery Award recognises individuals who have shown moral courage and bravery during difficult situations.

The Badge of St Helena is a higher status award than the Certificate and Badge of Honour. It acknowledges exceptional service from both St Helenians and non-St Helenians—either individuals or organisations—that significantly contributes to St Helena’s development or promotes social, cultural, economic, environmental improvement or international understanding regarding St Helena.

Freedom of the City of Jamestown is described as symbolic but represents the highest-level local government honour available. It is given to both locals and non-locals whose achievements warrant distinctive recognition due to their outstanding contribution with national impact on St Helena.

Nomination forms can be obtained from Central Support Service at The Castle in Jamestown or requested by email at [email protected].
