The National Industrial and Mining Company (SNIM) opened its pavilion at the INDABA 2026 mining exhibition in Cape Town, South Africa, on February 9. The event is considered a key platform for promoting Mauritania’s mining industry to an international audience.

This marks SNIM’s second time participating in the exhibition. The company introduced a collective pavilion that includes four other Mauritanian companies: Maaden Mauritania, MCM (Mauritania Copper Mines), Amiral Mining, and Al Aouj Mining Company. According to SNIM, this approach aims to raise its profile internationally, present investment opportunities in Mauritania, promote the country’s mining resources, and encourage further investments in a sector central to the national economy.

Alongside the exhibition, the Ministry of Mines and Industry will host an event called “Mauritania Showcase.” Scheduled for tomorrow, this session will feature discussions about Mauritania’s mineral resources and include representatives from SNIM, Kinross Tasiast, MCM, and other industry stakeholders.

INDABA 2026 runs until February 12 and offers attendees opportunities for networking as well as exposure to recent developments within the mining sector.
