His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio presided over the swearing-in ceremony of two new Deputy Ministers at State House, Freetown. Mr. David Fortune was appointed as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, and Mr. Paul Hingha Augustine Charles Tucker took on the role of Deputy Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation. The event adhered to Section 57 of the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone, which requires that Ministers or Deputy Ministers take an oath before commencing their official duties.

Mr. Barba Brima Fortune, Secretary to the President, explained that after President Bio’s nomination and parliamentary vetting, both appointees received approval from the Parliament of Sierra Leone.

Mr. Paul Hingha Augustine Charles Tucker spoke on behalf of the newly sworn-in officials and expressed gratitude to President Bio for their appointments: “We pledge to fully support our supervising ministers in implementing your administration’s governance policy objectives and in consolidating the progress already made.”

President Julius Maada Bio congratulated the new Deputy Ministers while acknowledging the challenges they will face due to resource constraints driven by global geopolitical tensions: “I urge you to inject fresh ideas and adopt innovative approaches that can thrive within our local ecosystem,” he advised.
