At the 48th Session of the Governing Council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome, Italy, Sierra Leone’s President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, delivered a keynote address on February 12, 2025.

In his speech, President Bio emphasized the importance of sustainable peace and security through stakeholder collaboration. He stated that such efforts are crucial for development and stability in the region.

On February 11, 2025, at the Barclay Training Centre in Monrovia, Liberia, President Bio was honored with the “Distinguished Service Order” by Liberia’s President Joseph Nyuma Boakai. This award recognized his contributions to peace and security.

President Bio expressed gratitude for this recognition and reiterated his commitment to fostering cooperation among nations to achieve lasting peace.
