His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, was recently honored with two prestigious continental awards. The awards recognize his transformative leadership and unwavering commitment to gender equality.

During the presentation ceremony held at State House in Freetown on February 22, 2025, Dr. Bio received the African HeForShe Champion of the Year Award 2024. This award acknowledges leaders who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to promoting gender equality and empowering women.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Bio expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing gender equality in Sierra Leone and across Africa. “I am deeply honored to receive these awards,” he stated.
