Freetown, 11 March 2025 – President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has left Freetown to attend the 2025 Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) Global Forum in Barbados. The event will see global leaders discuss ways to accelerate sustainable energy solutions.

President Bio is scheduled to deliver a national statement at the forum, focusing on Sierra Leone’s Energy Transition and Green Growth Plan. This plan prioritizes a shift towards renewable energy and aims to reduce reliance on biomass and oil. His speech will emphasize the country’s dedication to hydropower and solar energy, aligning with the Feed Salone Strategy, the National Development Plan, and global climate goals.

The forum is hosted by the Government of Barbados and aims to bring together heads of state, policymakers, and industry leaders. Their goal is to drive collective action toward a just and inclusive energy transition. President Bio’s participation highlights Sierra Leone’s leadership in climate resilience and sustainable energy development.

Earlier in March, President Bio was briefed by Dr. Austin Demby, Minister of Health, along with other representatives at State House in Freetown.

In Ibadan, Nigeria on March 4th and 5th, President Bio participated in discussions focused on food security as part of economic growth strategies. He joined a high-level panel discussion alongside key global agricultural and financial experts.
