His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has inaugurated the Bo Homecoming Cultural Festival at the Bo Mini Stadium in Bo City. The event, themed “Our Heritage Promotes Peace and Development,” underscores the government’s dedication to peace and national cohesion.

The festival celebrates the cultural heritage of Bo district, attracting attendees from its 16 chiefdoms and beyond. It features cultural displays, farm produce exhibitions, traditional attire, and local cuisine.

A key highlight was the procession of Paramount Chiefs in traditional regalia, showcasing Sierra Leone’s diverse heritage. President Bio expressed gratitude to organizers for celebrating culture and traditions. He stressed the importance of preserving these customs for future generations.

“As a nation, we must ensure that our children understand our customs and traditions,” President Bio remarked. “If caution is not taken, the next generation may lose touch with their mother’s or father’s language.” He praised the Paramount Chiefs for evoking memories of historical significance.

The President highlighted the festival’s role in uniting people and fostering peace. Chairman Abdulai Bum Wai appreciated the President’s presence, emphasizing Bo district’s leadership in promoting unity.

Dr. Prince Alex Harding commended the festival as a testament to peace in Sierra Leone and noted collaboration with the government for national development.

The event featured a performance by Dr. Kposo Wai’s troupe in national colors. The durbar of 16 Paramount Chiefs added grandeur to the celebration.

The festival began on December 25th and will conclude on January 1st, 2025.
