The Sierra Leone Ambassador to South Korea Omrie Golley welcomed Younghaw Development Industries, Ltd. executives during a meeting in Korea in late August as part of an effort to encourage Korean companies to invest in Sierra Leone.
Younghaw Development Chairman and CEO Kim Hun Ko, Director Chul Eui Han and other company officials met with Golley. The company specializes in the construction and design of simple housing systems that utilize prefabricated housing units. The company also manufactures steel structures for industrial purposes.
Golley invited Younghaw Development representatives in order to garner investment possibilities for Sierra Leone in the aftermath of the Ebola virus epidemic. During their meeting, Ko said
Younghaw Development has taken part and completed housing and infrastructure projects in Africa, including projects in Kenya and Angola, and that he looks forward to assisting development efforts in Sierra Leone.
During the meeting, Golley said that the country was ready to conduct business and to participate with genuine investors. He also said the company would play an important part of the post-Ebola recovery efforts currently being taken on by the country and its government.
There were 8,703 laboratory-confirmed Ebola cases in Sierra Leone and an estimated total of 13,747 probable and confirmed cases. A total of 3,953 fatalities have been attributed to the outbreak in Sierra Leone.
