President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. received Letters of Credence from Ambassador-Designate Mikal Kvistad of Norway and Ambassador-Designate Abdelatif Guia of Algeria during ceremonies at the Executive Mansion in Monrovia on Thursday.
The presentation of credentials marks the start of both ambassadors’ official duties in Liberia and underscores ongoing diplomatic relations between Liberia, Norway, and Algeria. The events emphasized shared goals to expand cooperation in areas such as development, governance, trade, climate resilience, and sustainable economic growth.
Ambassador Kvistad highlighted Norway’s commitment to working with Liberia on climate and forest conservation efforts. “He emphasized Norway’s continued support for sustainable forest management and efforts to promote green growth through the development of a deforestation-free agricultural sector, aimed at boosting livelihoods while protecting Liberia’s rich natural resources.”
Ambassador Guia outlined Algeria’s intention to strengthen economic ties with Liberia. “He highlighted opportunities to enhance trade relations, increase investment flows, and promote tourism, noting the complementary strengths of both countries and the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships.”
President Boakai welcomed both diplomats and assured them of government support during their missions. “He expressed confidence that their respective tenures will further deepen bilateral ties and broaden cooperation in trade, investment, education, security, and sustainable development.” The president also extended best wishes for their assignments: “The President also extended his best wishes for their successful service and expressed Liberia’s confidence to fostering strong diplomatic relations that advance peace, prosperity, and shared progress among nations.”
